Based around the theme of ‘A Day in the Hills’ and featuring work by internationally acclaimed walking artist Hamish Fulton who will showing a text wall made especially for the Festival, Ali Pretty’s colourful work, Julian Cooper’s skilful landscape paintings and Sarah Cullen’s thought-provoking pieces. The dialogue between the works of the many diverse contemporary artists serves to explore how mountains inspire artists. A number of the artists will also be speaking about their work during the festival and there will be a tribute to the film work of the late Jim Curran.
The exhibition is part of the Mountain Arts Festival 2016, which brings together an exceptional group of artists, climbers, speakers and filmmakers for a celebration of the Arts in the context of mountainous landscape. Proceeds from the Mountain Arts Festival will support the Nepal Earthquake Appeal of Community Action Nepal.
