Works on Paper Fair 2015

Works on Paper Fair
The Science Museum, London
(5 – 8 Feb 2015)

The Works on Paper Fair, the annual art fair specialising in drawings, watercolours, prints and photographs, was held 5 – 8 February 2015 at the Science Museum in South Kensington, London. The Works on Paper Fair brings together around 50 specialist art dealers selling every type of art on paper: watercolours, drawings, prints, posters and photographs.

“We are unusual among picture fairs as we do not focus on any one period of art.” says Fair Director Lucy Russell.“ A 16th century engraving will be be exhibited close to a Modern British print, or a contemporary drawing, or a Victorian watercolour. The juxtapostion of historical art with 20th Century and contemporary art makes for a stimulatiing mix for visitors, and reflects the wide tastes of today’s collectors.”

The fair is know for presenting an affordable way of acquiring work by “big name” artists, as works on paper are generally priced considerably lower than oils on canvas. The spontaneity and immediacy transmitted by drawings and watercolours is another reason many collectors are attracted to the fair.
